Gages go nuts when i hit the key on. Benched checked the alturnator. It's OK. battery show's that it needs replacing however, i think there is somthing else going on. With the battery disconnected i can start and iddle it above 1000RPM. Whe the idle is under 1000RPM, the car dies and the gages go crazy. Alternator may be regulated by computer control not inside it by a voltage regulator so you need to know if it can put out any reasonable voltage on vehicle. It may be killing you battery or running such low voltage that things will just misbehave. Figure on 12.2 when charged by charger is about right and engine running about 13.5 to 14.5v and if it can't do that AND not just some wiring not working or broken that will have to be addressed on its own and hope you don't need of ton of possible controls for everything if it has spiked voltage somehow? A whole host of things are on the maybe list but begin with a known good and charged battery then the voltage output at least for now, Then if it will behave it probably will need codes read. Hard codes will come right back. How can you start the engine with the battery disconnected? Does this have a pull start?
