FORD FIESTA TEMP GAUGE PROBLEM!! Sign In

Help! For some reason the temperature gauge in my M Reg Ford Fiesta is always waaaay over the red! The engine is fine and is not overheating so I don't know why it's doing this. My electric windows have also stopped working, could it be a faulty wire somewhere? When I eccelerate the needle goes down, but when I cruise it's just sky high! I've booked it into a garage for next week but has anyone had this problem before? Thanks.

Temperature gauges very rarely faulter. I think it is telling the truth. You need to do check your engine coolant and make sure it is topped up, get your radiator checked too, there could be a hole.

The reason it is normal when you are cruising is because of 2 things.
1. The air that hits your radiator when you are driving, cools it down
2. There is a fan attached to your drive belt assembly. The harder you push your pedal the faster the belts and in turn fan spin. Top up engine coolant, and let me know how you go.

Hi thanks very much for your post. Everything in the engine is okay, the coolant level is fine as I make sure I check this as I drive 80 miles a day to work and back. I regularly check my oil levels and things too. Do you think it could be the temperature sendor/thermostat in the engine that is playing up? The car runs fine (so far so good) and like I say I do 80 miles to work every day so surely the engine would have "blown up" (so to speak) by now??

Thanks again!!
