Fan relay

My friend has a 87 Chevy Spectrum and it is having major heating/cooling issues. Everything has been looked over and all is fine, so it is determined to be the fan relay. The fan does come on but for very short periods of time and not long enough to do anything, so the car is over heating. But what we can't figure out is where the relay is, and what could actually be wrong with it. Any help, hints or ideas would be great! I will try to answer any questions as best I can. Thanks So much!! Lisa Just a Girl living in this world.

Hi - just a guy living in this world too! I don't know where that relay is but owner's manual may help. A fuse generally quits for good but no harm in checking, T Stay on auto reply as someone here may know exactly where it is
