What’s an EA wagon?
The year would also help in looking up a wiring diagram to see how Ford has wired this particular wagon. Hopefully I have one?
Older North American vehicle headlight systems use to use a circuit breaker built into the switch rather then a fuse to protect the circuit after the switch.
Newer vehicles and many older imports use multiple fuses and or relays protecting the individual headlight circuits.
A single fuse would blow when a short to ground happens and all headlights would go out and stay out but a circuit breaker will heat up and turn off, cool down and come back on. This heating and cool happens very quickly and could be causing the headlights to “flicker”. On multiple fused systems you may only loose one headlight.
So knowing what year and model we’re talking about is very important.

the curcuit breaker problem sounds exactly like what my car is doing...the headlights work fine until i drive for a bit then they turn off...if i turn my headlights off for a few minuets then back on they work for a few mins...but then start to go off and on again..oooohhhh and i believe my car is 1990-1992 not exactly sure...

Well if it has a circuit breaker system it could very well be that the breaker has gone weak and cannot handle the load of the headlights but it also could be a short to ground somewhere in the circuit and the breaker is doing it’s job.
There are a few amperage draw tests you could do but the easiest way to verify whether the breaker is at fault is to replace the switch.
