HORN TROUBLE Sign In

hi everyone I'm new here and I hope you can shed some light on my car troubles.
I have a 99 olds intriuge and some time ago the horn just started blowing. It was very early in the morning and by the time I realized It was my car and got to the car ,it had blown the fuse. I replaced the 15 amp fuse and everything worked fine for a couple of days. then it happend again. This time I didnt have a 15 amp fuse so I installed a 20. Again, everything worked fine . A few days later it happend again. this time It didnt blow the fuse, it burned up the horn. This time I replaced the horn, the horn relay, and put a 15 amp fuse back in. I figured the relay was bad and that would be the end of my problems. WRONG. The very next morning the horn started blowing again and blowed the fuse again. has anyone else here had a problem like this?

thanks JOHN

Re: HORN TROUBLE Sign In

tcrkap; There may be a couple of possibilities, here. Your car may be haunted by a lonely, horn(y) ghost and just wants attention.Wink Or, could be the security system. Is this a factory system, or an aftermarket type? Not a good idea to raise the fuse value, as you've found. Could actually start a fire if the fuse doesn't blow.

Hi Loren, this car does have the factory security system, Hadn't thought of that. Guess I 'll look for a fuse for the security system & see if it does it again. thanks for the sugestion.
btw I havent completely ruled out the "lonely ghost" theory.Shocked

John; Glad to hear you have a sense of humor.Smile I'd want to caution you, however, on removing any fuses. The VATS system in GMs can/will disable the ignition and you may not be able to start it. Might want to bite the bullet and get it checked by someone familiar with that system. Or, call Ghostbusters. Wink
