If your small greound wire is smoking that means that your bigger one is likely missing. The power is traveling through that wire when it should going through a heavier cable elsewhere. Check your negative battery cable to the engine. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
