I Wanna Go, Expedition Doesn't. Help! Sign In

2006 Ford Expedition King Ranch 5.4L 330CI V8

Yesterday, I left my '06 King Ranch Expo running when I ran in to take care of a quick matter, and, when I came back out, I thought to myself, "Self, wow, isn't your car running quietly? Well, it had actually cut off.

The A/C and radio were still on. But, when I turned the key, NOTHING. SILENCE. No clicking. Zero. So, first I check the oil. There's plenty of not real dirty looking oil in it.

I get back in the car and get a 'CHARGING SYSTEM DATA ERROR" message. I took both terminals off the battery for a little bit and replaced them. Still nothing.

There was a guy there that had a code reader, and he plugged it into that spot, to the right, under my steering wheel. He said it "wasn't throwing a code", whatever that means.

OK, so probably now you have realized I am of the female gender. But, I am not a complete idiot when it comes to fixing stuff. So, will you help me? Please tell me what I need to do to figure out what is wrong with this dang car....and I have a Chilton's manual for it, so, perhaps, I can fix it myself.

Unfortunately, I am quite a distance from home, and from my Chilton's manual. I really need to see some good pictures of the wires that come off the battery, and where they go. I have a sneaking suspicion this could be part of the problem. On the other hand, an expert (one that hopefully reads this message) may say I am barking up the wrong tree. But, at least this might be a good place to start, since someone did replace the battery terminals not long ago, and maybe it wasn't done correctly.

Any instructions you can give me would surely be appreciated. After the heartbreak of the poor car being vandalized, I thought things would have to be getting better instead of worse. Now this has happened. So, if any mechanics feel compelled to help a damsel in distress, I'd like to sign up.

Thanks.

If the engine isn't running you'll get a chargine system error on message center simply because the engine isn't running.

It won't crank?
Is the light on the dash pad flashing when you turn the key on?
