I have a 2000 Chevrolet Impala LS, 101,000 miles, 3.8 V-6.

Since my last vehicle service, (about 1000 miles ago) at which time I also had the cabin filter replaced, I have had a problem with the blower motor coming on and shutting off. I recently noticed that when this happens, the overhead information center also goes black when the blower shuts down and comes on again when the blower starts. I have checked and replaced the indicated fuses located on both sides of the dash with no solution. I have also located some electrical components under the hood. Are these fuses or breakers that could be causing this problem? The switch seems to be good and works at all speeds when the blower is running. I am hoping this is something I could repair myself, but I don't have the diagnostic equipment or knowledge to analyze the problem, and I don't want to replace unneeded parts.

Thanks for you help

My problem is fixed. After spending $500.00 ($250.00 for looking for the problem and vehicle rental) it turned out to be a faulty ignition switch. Smile

Hey - Thanks for reporting what the fix was in this case. Sorry it was so costly!
