I RECENTLY PURCHASED A MOBILE WELDER THAT USES A KAISER JEEP 4 CYL. F4-134 GASOLINE ENGINE.The person I bought it from had replaced the points , because the original points were burned very badly. The problem is ,when you flip the ignition switch on and the points are closed the wire from the neg side of coil to the points gets very hot and smokes melting the insulation. The points look like they are installed correctly. I have worked on alot of vehicles , but never had a problem like this. Just for information it is a 12 volt neg ground system. I can't figure out where the problem is. I am not familiar enough with these older engines. Any help would be appreciated.
