No Air Coming Out of Vents Sign In

Let me preface this by saying that I know very, very little about cars. I hate to admit it, but it is true. If it's not a problem with the fuses, oil, or fuel...then I'm out :) So, please be a little patient with me. I am going to do my best to describe the problem to you (and hopefully you'll be able to help), but I cannot guarantee that I'll get all the words right.

Anyway, here are the specs on the car:

Year: 2003
Make: Honda
Model: Accord LX
Engine: Unsure (It says i-Vtech 2.4 DOHC on it, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for)

Problem:

There is absolutely nothing coming out of the air vents: no hot air, no cold air, no slight breeze that feels better than nothing. I used the car last night and had no problems whatsoever, but less than 18 hours later, it stops working. I was not the one using the car when this started. My mother had borrowed it this morning and informed me a few minutes later that no air was coming out at all, so I could not tell you exactly what happened right before it stopped working other than it was sitting in the garage all night (closed garage).

The first thing I did was check the fuses, but none of them were burnt out (that, and all the lights corresponding to the A/C on the dashboard were still on, until I took the fuse out to check). Like I said, after checking the fuses, I'm pretty much stymied. So, I drove down to one of those Auto Zones to ask for their advice, but they did not seem to know exactly what the problem could be and recommended that I take it to a mechanic. So I will be taking it to our family mechanic come Monday, but I was hoping maybe it was something I could fix on my own. Like I said, I don't know a lot about cars, but that's not to say I can't give it a shot. Usually the only way I learn about something is by taking it apart...but I don't want to go that far.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew what the problem could be. Here is what I have done so far:

Checked the fuses (none were burnt out)
Checked the belts under the hood (but, then again, I could have missed one that was hiding somewhere)
Thought of recharging the unit, but one of the employees at the Auto Zone said that would not help, seeing as how there is no air coming out whatsoever.

What I lack in knowledge in cars, I more than make up for with the fact that I'm good with my hands and can do many things if I have proper instructions. So, if there is something I can do before Monday, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Gotcha - not much help for you just yet thoughUnsure

By description it's behaving like the car is just plain off and controls for anything heat or air is disempowered. This does need checking for power at the fuses not just the condition they look like visually and go from there.

I'll move the thread to "electrical" problems as so far this isn't specifically heat or A/C - yet,

T

Get yourself one of these "circuit" tester or "test light" - even a cheap one is fine for testing fuses for power. Litterally less than $5 bucks at Wally World! Fuses can be tested and light the handle when power is there and show they are good rather than by looks alone and you don't need to remove them.

There's a power supply issue with this and we'll need to know if it gets to fuse at all. Wouldn't want to suggest it's more involved till that's known,
