I have a 2001 Saturn Lw300 and the odometer, speedometer, and automatic locks do not lock when the car is moving. All of my other gauges work fine. All fuses seem to be working fine. the guys at autozone said it was the speed sensor, but they don't always know. The service engine soon light is on. All of these problems started one day when I had to jumpstart the car.( I left the lights on.) When I jumped it off the service light came on and the problems started. It would be awesome if someone could answer this problem for me.

There may have been a voltage serge in the system when you removed the jumper cables; this voltage spike may have hit the speed sensor or one of the modules and taken it/them out? Have the computer(s) scanned for the trouble code(s) and tell us what it is; it may give us a direction to go in to help you find the problem. Then again a speed sensor is relatively inexpensive, so maybe put one in and see if that corrects the problem. The Door lock module, instrument cluster and the power train module all share the speed sensor’s input signal through class II data stream. A scan tool set up to read sensor input (data stream) would be the best way to confirm or narrow down where the problem is. Dan. Canadian "EH"
