Really Weird..With Smoke!!

ok, here is my trouble, i think it is a ground wire but i am a lamen and all of this together seems really weird. a few nights ago my dash lights flickered off an on, they have sense totally gone out. then i noticed that when i hot the brake, i hear a static noise in the back eft speaker. then my tailights went out, i replaced a fuse, it keeps blowing. my door ajar and service air bag light also are on. when i replaced the fuse, i took one out of the radio in the cabin fuse panel, and put it in the taillight fuse. it blew , not immediately, but shortly after. i went to buy a fuse for the radio, and when i went to put it in it sparked, so i left it. the car idles fine, but when i put it in gear i smell burning electrical, and today smoke came out of it. the only other odd thing is that i heard kind of a weird clicking noise under the gearshift. i am assuming all of these things are connected, but have no idea what to do. It is a 2007 chevy cobalt LS. any help is appreciated! kinda desperate.

It's obvious that you have an overload in that circuit. You will have to get it to an electrical expert to locate the source of the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

What you should be looking for is the Yellow pages and an auto electric shop. Unless you have extensive electrical knowledge, this job needs to be done by a professional.

You may or may not need any parts. Make sure you disconnect the battery in case it decides it wants to go up in flames. And believe me, it does happen. You wouldn't think metal and plastic would burn, but it will and does. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You already have no brake lights and possibly further electrical issues. You can't drive it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

oddly enough the brake lights and tail lights stay on for longer than i need them to before i get to the garage. i just don't have the funds to get it towed, and i need to get to work, so that is why i was asking. when you have no options your options are limited.

If you don't have the funds to safely operate your vehicle then it may be time to park it and look for alternative transportation.
