Remote key Sign In

I need a remote for a Ford Focus C Max 2004. The original was stolen. I have a manual key which also starts the car. When I get a new remote, will the original still operate? If so, can this be prevented?
Many thanks

Re: Remote key Sign In

You can purchase a new remote from the dealer.

Here is the programming procedure.

REMOTE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING

NOTE:
  • A maximum of four remote transmitters can be programmed to the vehicle. Programming must be done at the same time for all the remote transmitters.
  • Before entering the remote transmitter programming mode, make sure that the vehicle battery is fully charged and that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered (if equipped)
  1. Close all doors to make sure conflicting chimes do not sound during programming.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from position I to position II four times within six seconds .
  3. Turn the ignition switch to position 0.
  4. A chime sounds that indicates that the learning mode has been accessed and it is possible to program remote transmitters.
  5. Within 10 seconds of the previous step, press any button on the remote transmitter being programmed until a chime is heard. This indicates a new remote transmitter code has been successfully programmed.
  6. After each successful remote transmitter programming, another 10 second learning mode is automatically entered, up to a maximum of four times.
  7. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat step 5.
  8. The system will exit the learning mode if the ignition switch is turned to position III, no new remote transmitter is programmed during the 10 seconds or if four remote transmitters have been programmed.
  9. NOTE: An incorrect programming procedure does not affect the stored codes.

After successful programming, only the new programmed remote transmitters will be accepted.

  1. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the remote locking and unlocking functions.

Re: Remote key Sign In

Again, thanks for your info. What about the original manual key, part of the original transmitter? Would it be possible to open and start the car with the key part of this transmitter? Again, getting conflicting info this end.
best wishes

Re: Remote key Sign In

The key should not be affected by the remote door locking transmitter, if that is what you are programming. I can not find your vehicle in the manual, but the following is for an Explorer that is sold outside the U.S. It has the same procedure as the ones sold over here.
Remote Transmitter Programming Printable View (9 KB)
NOTE: All remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitters must be programmed at the same time.
NOTE: Programming (or reprogramming) of the RKE transmitters can be accomplished using a diagnostic tool or by carrying out the following steps:
  1. The vehicle must be electronically unlocked before entering program mode using the RKE transmitter, RKE keypad (if equipped) or door lock control switch while the driver door is open.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module has successfully entered program mode, it locks and then unlocks all doors.
  1. Within 20 seconds, press any button on an RKE transmitter, and the doors lock and then unlock to confirm that each RKE transmitter is programmed. Repeat this step for each RKE transmitter.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any RKE transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Inspection and Verification in this section. (Make sure that no more than the maximum number of RKE transmitters are attempted to be programmed.)
  1. Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:
    • The key transitions to the OFF position.
    • 20 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last RKE transmitter was programmed.
    • The maximum number of RKE transmitters have been programmed.
