Strange Electrical Problem 2006 Lucerne Sign In

My 2006 Buick Lucerne has begun exhibiting strange behavior lately. Sometimes it doesn't want to start - won't even turn over. Other times when I turn the car off, the dash lights go haywire and the stereo turns on/off. Opening the driver's door should turn off aux power but it doesn't consistently do so. When I'm driving, sometimes the dash will go dead and the stereo will turn on and off. I've tested the battery which seems to be ok, charging up to ~13-14v and running around 12-13.5v when the alternator is on. I also replaced my alternator last year.

Here's a video of the issue:

Re: Strange Electrical Problem 2006 Lucerne Sign In

Somebody recently suggested this may be a "VATS/PassKey" issue.

I neglected to mention it, but I did remove/clean/tighten my battery terminals. They were almost flawless to begin with, but just to make sure I went through the process. The car has always been slightly reluctant to start, sometimes requiring me to give it gas to keep it running initially. I'm using an XS Power D3400 battery.

I have a 1200w amp driving a subwoofer, and the first time the major parts of this issue (dash lights going off, car won't start) presented themselves was after a pretty large, short burp from the subwoofer. My gain is set appropriately so it shouldn't have drawn too much current, but it's still a pretty big coincidence.

Has any recent work or modifications been done prior to this happening? Did the problems start after your stereo installation?

You may need to take it to a shop that has an enhanced scan tool that can do a full dtc system scan of all the modules in the vehicle. Might give some guidance.
