I am trying to install a tachometer on my 95 Cavalier, 2.2L . I know we are supposed to buy an adapter buy with my budget at this time, im just gonna pass... So yeah, I was wondering where to connect the white and red wire (I tried connecting it to all of the wire of the dimmer but didnt came up with nothing...). I also need to know how can I pass the green wire threw the firewall.. I dont see nothing in there, I found an hole but I cant find it on both side... And the last thing, where can I ground it (black wire) ? Thanks, Nick NickDvS

Can you scan or post a link of the wiring diagram for the tack; most are wired in the same way but I’d hate to tell you the wrong thing and let the smoke out (burn out) your new tack or whatever you’re connecting it to. As for passing the green wire through into the engine compartment, if you can’t find an existing hole, make your own. However you get the wire through; make sure it is properly insulated as to not get cut and short out the ignition system or your tack. That’s unless you don’t mind wearing out shoe leather walking; if your budget doesn’t allow for that adapter it sure won’t allow for an ignition module or computer. Oh by the way I think you’re going to need the adapter to connect the green wire to; this car has direct ignition with two ignition coils that are electronically controlled. The adapter converts the electrical signal into something the tack will understand. If you are that unsure of where to connect the ground, you’re already passing one wire through the firewall, take the ground wire with it. Connect it too any metal object under the hood or the battery negative terminal. The red wire is likely the power feed for the tack and should be connected to a power source that is only there when the ignition switch is in the run position. The white wire is probably for the tack’s light, connect it to a power source that is there while the dash lights are on. You should be able to find both of these two different sources at the in dash fuse panel. You should also install in-line fuses for both of these as close to the power source as possible or there’s a chance of wearing out more shoe leather. LOL Dan. Canadian "EH"
