Tail-lights won't work right! Sign In

My daughter has a 2001 Hyundai Tiberon and the rear brake lights/running lights won't work right.
The right taillight will work when you apply the brake but won't work in the running light mode. The left taillight will work in the running light mode but doesn't work in the brake light mode. I have done a continuity test on the wires the best I can but haven't found anything. Also, what is the difference between the 1157 bulb and 2357 bulb. A book I have calls for the 2357 bulb but my daughter had the 1157 bulbs installed in her car. I not real good with electrical stuff, please help! Thanks, Rob.

Use the correct bulb designed for the vehicle and the 1157 or 2357 is just more wattage (lumens) on the higher #.

(57) suggests that the bulb has two filaments within the bulb. One brighter for brake lighting or hazard lights.

Sockets are suspect. Some bulbs you can force a bulb in improperly also,
