Windsheild wiper help

My windsheild wipers stopped working. I was driving and they worked, turned the car off, got back in 8 hours later and no wipers. I have replace the fuse and that did not work. I then put a jumper wire from the battery directly to the w/s motor and it worked great. The car is a 1994 Plymouth Sundance with 2.2 TBI motor. Wipers are the intermittent type. Also, don't know if this matters but the button to operate the fluid works. I mention that because it's on the stick wiht the w/s wiper control. Any ideas??? Thanks Nick

These older Chryslers were bad for the motor’s to loose their ground. Try taking a jumper wire from battery negative to the case of the wiper motor. Sometimes just moving the brass grounding strap that is riveted to the wiper motor housing is enough to get the thing to work. Maybe when you supplied power to the motor from the battery positive; you inadvertently disturbed the ground strap and that’s why it worked while you were under the hood? Dan. Canadian "EH"
