Wiring problem 98 Talon

I have a 98 Talon, the driver side turn signal is stuck on. No mater what position the switch is in it stays flashing. The right side will not flash even if switch is in the right position. All signals will flash when emergency flasher is on. I have replaced the turn signal/headlight switch, the turn signal/4 way flasher relay, and the emergency flasher switch. All bulbs have been replaced, all 13 grounding locations have been located and checked. I have spent several days going throught the wire harness looking for a bad spot but did not find anything. HELP!

I would have told you to do exactly what you have done already. If everything has been checked and replaced, i dont know?? Try this, locate your flasher can relay compartment, remove flasher can from right side and put a test light in there. See if there is power going to it when you turn you signal on. The see if power goes there when your emergancy lights are activated, and let me know. I may have a theory.

He is talking about the flasher unit in your vehicle. More than likely in the fuse panel or close to it. We have a little difference in language. He is from overseas, or we are from overseas. Dependant on where you are located. Right Dr.?? Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

Sorry mate, under your hood there will be a black box somewhere with a lid on it. Pop the lid, there will be a heap of fuses in there. Look at the diagram on the top of the box. There will be a locator that says "indicator relay" or "indicators" take them both out and run your test light in them. I think they will be a 3 pin relay, so put your indicators on, right side 1st, and test all 3 slots on both till you get the light to activate, then do it the other way, with left indicator on.

I found the relay, With the ingnition switch on and the turn signal switch set in any position I only have power to one side of the socket. This is also the case with the ignition switch off. I don't know if I mentioned that the hazzard flasher and turn signals share the same relay. I have replaced this relay twice. Thanks for your continued help.

Just a question. Did you replace the relay with a Original Equipment part? We have some Dodge trucks that act funny with aftermarket relays. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

No I replaced with an after market. It was doing the same thing so i have the original back in

Right, now we have evaluated the problem. It seem there is no power going to the problem indicator when the switch is activated. BUT, works under activation from your hazard lights. There is a wiring problem to from the switch to the relay socket. 1st step, get a multi meter and do a continuity test on the wire when swith is activated. It SHOULD tell you continuity is broken. You can find this wire under your dash, shoulkd be running from the switch. Keep that colour in mind and see if you can find it under the hood going to fuse box. Thats all you can do by yourself. At least you have saved yourself some $$$ by finding the fault. Now its time to go to auto shop unfortunately. This should only take them 1hr max to, find and fix. Unless you can see a broken wire yourself. If you see it, cut it at the break and crimp it back together with a joiner wire connector. If unsure..go to the experts. Hope we helped. On 2nd thought, DONT cut any wires. Take it to a mechanic, they may be able to solder it, if it is broken wires, save you a headache and a fortune.

Don't know if you remember me and my Talon, I have yet to find the short, But I am purchasing a short finder to see if that will help, I have not had a great deal of time to get back to the car, but the information you have already given me has helped so much. Big question here, I am not finding any shorts in the wiring, The short circuit finder I have shows a problem very close to the junction/fuse box. The ETACS-ECU is attached to this, and upon some research I find that this little gem controls a multitude od functions, including turn signals. Could this be the problem? I am going to research the cost of one. (early research suggests its not cheap) Very much looking forward to your input. Thanks
