I have a, new to me, 2002 H-6 Subaru wagon. I have a new cam position sensor but the internet and mechanics have a dozen locations to install this part. I just want the right one. Code was showing 340 bank 1 or single

What exactly is an H6 and what engine do you have? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I don't know if you are using some sort of nickname but H6 is not a model sold in the US. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

car is an Outback VDC wagon 3.0 liter. I am guessing at one sensor on the #1 bank which was indicated by the code reader which should be the side where the #1 cylinder is which is what the sensor reads. The Net has people saying 1,2 and maybe 6 sensors if you count the parts guy.

Outback VDC wagon I can deal with. I suspect the H6 is just a trim package. It's #4 in the whole engine picture.

Mr. Time you are a genius and led me to remove a couple more parts which exposed this little bastage and the engine light went off. Hopefully for good because its been going on and off. For the record, on a 2002 3.0 Outback, the cam position sensor isn't too tough to change and is on the passenger side, in the rear. Thanks a bunch for posting.
