I was removing my old vacuum switching valve off my camry to install a new one. When i was pulling out the wired connection the plastic clip broke, so now there are just the two wires and i don't know if it matters if the wires have to go on a specific prong. here is a link to my VSV so you can see the connection. link deleted ........ not allowed you can see the two prongs that the wires have to connect to but there's nothing to differentiate which wire goes on which prong. Does it matter?

Just looked and common to me and many perhaps that the 'bail' the locks it on snaps off. This looks like the prongs are offset such that it will not plug in the wrong way if direct pic shows......... See if larger pic shows......... Small to see in that but look for which side the bail broke and the nib that would catch it for proper position. Then you can wire tie it together so it can't fall apart by itself or go nuts trying to find all original stuff and replace it all. If what I think happened it will only fit the correct way still, T

The wires may work either way but an intact plug wont. Look at the offset and the nub to index it. Several items are just on/off continuity (open or closed circuit) but will still force flow one direction. Others are gradients of resistance. It's indexed for some reason so would index it that way again, T

Since he said he doesn't have a plug any more, I guess the fit isn't going to matter. Just don't let them touch together. If they touch and the ECU commands the VSV, it will fry the driver in the ECU. Better to go to the salvage yard and cut a connector off another car and splice that one in. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
