fuel gauge Sign In

just bought a 93 chevy 1/2 ton van conversion fuel gauge is all the way past full and laying about the 3 oclock position only moves once in a great while it will slowly drop to 3/4 tank or so then go back up to 3 o clock position, is this a bad gauge or a short in the wiring

Re: fuel gauge Sign In

Ibelieve your problem is inside the gas tank the float on sending unit could be bad more than likely. Unsure

Re: fuel gauge Sign In

?? I think I'd try unplugging the wires to the fuel pump/sender and see if the gauge reads empty then. Look at the wiring and see if it's rubbing or connections corroded or something before I spent any $$ right yet,

Chevy is backwards. If open it goes full scale. If grounded it drops to empty.Blush
