I have a 91 camaro rs 305 tbi. . . . the rear hatch motor hasnt worked since i got it. it will latch but the motor wont pull the hatch the rest of the way down, i have contmplated on getting a new one, but i was wondering if anyone had any other ideas i might be able to try. . .thanks

The hatch should have a sensor arm (on hatch side) to detect that it is shut and stop power to the motor. Test for 12V available there. With your hands you should be able to move that little sensor. If you find power, move the sensor and see if power then activates the motor. If it's broken, try jumping to the motor directly - a 9v household battery can do this. Watch hook do its thing up or down if that works. If that works, just let it go down a little at a time till you get to the proper closed position. Reverse polarity for which way motor runs. Unplug cars wiring and safely tape it up and forget that silly feature. If you really want it to work - say so and we'll move on to fix it. Let us know how you want to handle this,
