is this electrical?

I have a 2003 Kia Rio with about 170,000 miles on it 1.6 liter Automatic transmission. My acceleration is slow to build up to 2000rpm and on the way upthe needle on the rpm bounces as if I am pressing the accelerator intermittently. However, this happens as I have constant pressure on the pedal. My engine light comes and goes. I got it diagnosed and 3 trouble codes came up. Mass air flow circuit range/performance problem, gear four incorrect ratio, check TCM. the tech told me that the mass airflow may be the issue but to clean it first and it works fine for two days then back to the same thing. The thing that has me skeptical is the fact that this problem comes and goes. Is this electrical?

One copy of the question is sufficient. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
