had a 94 chevrolet astro van that customer complained would not shift out of first gear at times vehicle was new at the time....approx 5k on it... trans tech test drove repeatly, never could duplicate...customer was irate...kept telling us to change the trans hard to explain to him that in todays times the last theing you change sometimes is the trans, all controlled electrically. he didn;t want to hear it.. anyway i took home drove all over ,no problem, trans tech took home for a week no problem chat with customer noted that it happed when leaving a toll booth on the e way thought for awhile, only thing you do when leaving a toll booth is put the window back up when pulling away.. sure enough ,could duplicate everytime window switch was held down ,trans woudn;t shift.. turned out that there was a common ground at the core support, several grounds there, one was never connected, just missed having bolt go thru.probably was wedged in there and worked loose. repaired ground trans shifted fine go gm.
