sparking Sign In

have a 1993 ford escort, 180k miles: when trying to start often would't turn over. have the coil pack and crank sensor replaced. that did help. but sometimes no spark, sometimes tries to spark and sometimes will start right up. when i get no contact can hear a clicking hoise, if i tap the brakes can hear a clicking noise, take the key out of the ignation and they restart and sometimes will start. inconsistent, not the battery

Re: sparking Sign In

?? Can you clarify just what's NOT happening? Does this crank the engine all the time or not. The term "turn over" is confusing.

Ex: 1. It cranks but doesn't start.

2. It just makes a click or clicking and doesn't even turn or crank the engine.

These are two different problem area to approach,

T

Re: sparking Sign In

Something to try: Try starting with a good jump start from a running donor vehicle. If that helps a lot you should be checking out the battery and connections at both ends of cables,
