I have a 2002 chrysler town and country that just clicks when turning the key. I have pulled the wires from the bottom of the starter, cleaned everything and re connected. I had no problems with it for a few weeks and now it is acting up again. The battery is brand new. Sometimes I have to turn the key 5 or 6 times before it hits and turns over. I don't think it is the starter because when it clicks it doesn't draw down the headlights like it is not getting power to the starter. Could it possibly be the starter relay going bad? I really don't want to start playing swaptronics or replace the starter unnecessarily. It seems to be worse when damp or raining out. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

most likely is the contact plates inside the starter. Unless you are ready to take the back of the solenoid housing off and replace them you need a reman starter. Its not hard to do. But do a voltage drop test on the power wire first, as there is still the chance the wire itself could be bad and it would be a shame to spend money replacing things that are good
