tune up my @$$ Sign In

please excuse my french but i bout a used 1995 ford mustang tried tuning it up and hell broke lose,what should the gap be .54 they say but car doesnt idol correctly at 54 the original plugs i've checked are as high as .65-.70 somebody help me every thing i touch falls apart oh it ran flawlessly before i layed my ugly as hands on itPirate

My sources all say .052 to .054. What brand of plugs and wires are you using?

Your frustration comes thru loud and clear! Ign parts do better when OE spec on many cars. What engine is in this?

Did you replace the wires?

Ideas: Wires mixed up? Some good looking wires get trashed just from removing them and require replacement. Plugs new out of box could have a bad one or two. If box or plug was dropped they can get hairline cracks and fail either in your possession or in handling before you got them!

Many cars list the plug gap on a sticker underhood and I'd go by that if there's a discrepancy.
