window switch burnt out?

2006, dodge, ram1500,not sure,110k. All 4 power windows and mirrors stopped working a few weeks ago, so I popped the switch out of the door and the connection was burnt out as shown, what should my next course of action be? Did the switch short and that caused the connection to burn like that, or is there something else going on with the wiring? Thanks in advance.

It overheated from high current draw and a poor connection causing high resistance. At this point you need to replace both the plug and the switch to eliminate the problem. If the contacts in the switch aren't real burnt, you may get away with just the plug. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Just to add and HT is right on target with that. Add: Isn't it special with a good look that driver's door panel puts the buttons such that if raining like all get out gets soaked! That alone is a reason for it to be a problem spot. Nothing new either - cars/trucks and so forth have done that for ages and the stuff isn't water proof but most motors for windows are out of direct wetness from rain. If popular enough the switch is already aftermarket and now cheap enough to do it just anyway even if fixing the plug alone works might do both. Nice pic BTW. It's still your call but think if in front of me I'd make a shot at fixing the male/female ONE spade connector there that shows the problem at least first then be off for all new if practical or used if it looks real good on a wrecked door as where I am they wouldn't part out part of a good door that new, T
