1990 corvette codes Sign In

Crazy My check engine light on my 90 vette comes on ocassionaly then goes off,I've also developed a rough idle.I did a code scan and came up with # 23 intake air temp. low, and #45 rich exhaust present.Any ideas what is setting off these codes?I suspect a bad O2 sensor but I'd like to get some other input .

Thanks Wayne K

I would look into addressing the code 23 first.
A code 23 will set due to an open sensor, wire or connection or a faulty Ecm.

Believe it or not,the last three code 23's I had all were because the sensor was left disconnected...all three had been to the quick lube places and when they inspected the air filter, they forgot to reconnect the sensor.
As far as the code 45...if the ECM is commanding a richer mixture based on other inputs, this code could set .
That could also explain the rough idle...possibly fouling the spark plugs .

Just my thoughts
See what the others think

I agree with you Jim; if the air temp sensor has gone open, the ECM will be receiving a -40 degree signal. In turn the ECM will fatten up the mixture which could set the O2 code. If so you may have to replace the plugs after you get the temp sensor issue repaired; once a plug becomes fouled it usually doesn’t recover.
