Just a thought...found this bulletin...Long shot...

FYI......Knock sensor code alone will not illuminate the MIL (Check Engine Light)

EGR - Code 32 or DTC P0400, Cracked BPT Hose REFERENCE:
NTB98-052
CLASSIFICATION:
EC98-011
DATE:
June 15, 1998
TITLE:
1993-98 QUEST EGR MALFUNCTION DUE TO CRACKED BPT VALVE BOTTOM HOSE
APPLIED VEHICLE:
1993-98 Quest (V40)

SERVICE INFORMATION
If a Quest vehicle has an EGR malfunction code (i.e.: code 32 for 1993-95 MY or code P0400 for 1996-98 MY), the black rubber hose at the bottom of the BPT valve may be cracked.
In addition to the above codes, symptoms may include: - MIL `on'
- Spark knock
- Exhaust ticking noise.

NOTE: The 1993 Quest FED model will not have a MIL `on' symptom for this incident.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Figure 1

1. Inspect the black rubber hose at the bottom of the BPT valve (see Figure 1).
A. If the hose is cracked, replace with the hose from the Parts Information table.

CAUTION: Due to exhaust gas temperatures, do not use a substitute for the correct hose. B. If the hose is not cracked, look for other causes for the EGR malfunction.
