I live in California and have to pass the dreaded smog test every two years. I currently have a Saturn SL1 (2000). My car will not pass the pre-lim smog test. The things that come up saying "not complete" are: O2 sensor, catalyst, and EGR system. I have replace the O2 sensor with a sensor from the Saturn dealership, and have taken my car to a smog inspection and repair facility. The mechanic at the smog shop said I may have to get my computer reprogrammed. However, the Saturn dealership told me they do not do that anymore, and the car should reset itself after 100 miles. I have driven this car over 2,000 miles. It has been mentioned that I may need a new computer, but I don't want to spend close to $1000 on something that won't do anything. No trouble codes come up, it just won't pass the pre-lim test. Do I need a new computer? What can I do to fix this problem? HELP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HELP! I'VE BEEN DRIVING ON '06 TAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J
