vtec system malfunction

I own a 2000 Honda Accord LX. I was driving it the other day and had to accelerate to adjust to the traffic and the engine kind of hiccupped. Almost like it was flooding. No power for a split second. The service engine light came on. When a friend of mine put his tester on it it came up P1259. In that book I own that comes up vtec system malfunction. What is that and how do I fix it? Thanks.

A common problem with those is a bad vtec solenoid. It's on the right rear of the head close to the dist. You can try taking it off & clean the screen, that's another problem with them, the screens getting clogged. Also change the oil with the correct weight oil but that goes without saying...
