My 02 cavalier is overheating. I believe its a 2.2 with about 110k miles. I got it last March and it normally ran about 195-200. The last couple of weeks its been running 10-15 hotter. Today it started the same way, right up to 210-215, then I got on the freeway and it dropped to the normal temp. As soon as I got off the freeway it shot back up. Just as I was pulling around the corner to my house it climbed considerably higher but not quite in the red. I checked the Poland it was within the operating range, right in the middle of the hash marks. I checked the resavoir and discovered I was losing coolant. The oil was not milky. There were no signs of leaks when running or not after filling the resavoir.

If you're losing coolant then you need to pressure test the cooling system to determine where it is going. The temperature alone is not an indication of a problem because they are engineered to run hotter in slow traffic. The fans aren't even programmed to come on until around 225 but your lack of coolant is probably getting you there faster.
