I recently changed my oil and filter, but slightly overfilled. I ran it for a few to fill the filter. I drined back to normal level. ever since theres a knock on acceleration and deceleration around 2500 and 2000 rpm. thats when it is the worst. any ideas? Vacuum leak, valve adjust????

How much too full? That will matter and was vehicle on an angle when first started? Late for this oil change but when possible fill the filter to minimize the time for oil pressure to be at normal fast on start up. Does oil pressure read normal and fast on start up now? Can't know but it is possible to hurt things quite quickly with overfill or under filled, T

Basic oil changing: Warm engine. Drain oil and remove old filter. When possible fill new oil filter, lube with clean oil the rubber gasket. Tighten as per instructions on filter or packaging. Start engine when properly filled and circulated - any warnings of low oil pressure upon first start should go away quickly and allow to warm up a bit. Shut down and wait for oil to return to oil pan. With dipstick check for proper oil level on level ground and for leaks from any drain plug and filter while running. Other items on check list done at oil change intervals as listed in owner's manual. Dispose of used oil and filter as per local requirements. __________________________ This is highly routine and perhaps the most DIY maintenance done to vehicles. Initial start ups there is a period of extended time for oil pressure to get to normal as it would fill oil filter first and all would normally be fine. If a prolonged run with no oil pressure or if overfilled but not usually just one quart if known only that is the short critical time. Under by a lot engine bearings can take a hit. Over filled could make crankshaft splash in oil with assorted problems some very serious. Older and the weak links of anything under oil pressure would be hit first or oil splashing hard in the wrong places could damage lower end moving parts. IDK exact layout of everything ever made. If things had to be removed to access drain plug or oil filter those all need to be put back as intended. Pretty much I'd have to hear it in person now as this knocking seemed to be exactly related to this oil change service and if not just some shield that wasn't put back properly diagnose out what is making this knock now. Apparently driven a bit now with the knocking so if real engine problem develped not just some item that was touched to do this it will need to be diagnosed out and again if real damage it's done and wont get better by itself, T
