I have an 04 mustang with a v6 with about 140,000 miles. I gased it up on the way home from work then parked it, the next morning it didn't want to start at first but when it did there was a bad vibration and it had about as much power as a lawn mower. We put it on a computer ad it said I needed to replace the coil and some plugs. Did that, had more power going down thw road but still had bad vibration during idle. Put it back on computer, still said coil was bad, replaced it again. No help, now I'm getting peeved. put it back on computer. No help. Now it won't start!!! It will turn over. Took it to shop, said I needed fuel pump, ok replaced that. Still won't start, really getting peeved now!! Now shop says I need a new computer in my car!!!! Pleeeeease can anyone help!!! I have to go to work can't get there without a car!!! And can't afford a huge repair bill!!!

The computer doesn't tell you that anything is bad. It merely informs you of a specific situation and now you have to determine what the real cause is. What are the exact code numbers? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Sounds like you need to take it to another shop. You only replace the PCM if all the circuits going to and from the PCM check good. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I agree, found out they don't have a way of really testing to see if it's the cars computer so now I still have to pay for replacing the fuel pump which it did need replacing and now have it towed somewhere else, don't know who to trust now since I don't have alot of knowledge about car repair. But I thank you for your time, and input.

Doesn't this car have a fuel pump reset - red button to press and they do go bad. No sure but usually in trunks. Owner's manual would be specific. Can't say for every vehicle but Fords used "enertia" switches to shut fuel off, T

This is a variable pressure, pulse width modulated, computer controlled fuel pump so it's not easy to diagnose without the right equipment.
