I have a 05 nissan altima it ran fine then turned it off will not start now (has no fire pulled plug to see if fire) after I got the key wet i thought it was a crank sensor i changed it and the cam sensor will not crank the red light on the dash stays on could this be the anti theft. does anyone have any ideas this could be?

it will turn over with no fire to the plugs. like I said i have changed both crank and cam sensors thinking it is possibly it. it ran fine when it was turned on before the key got wet then tried it after but not crank with no fire. it will turn over. the light i am reffering too is on top of the dash the one that blinks red when switch is off but will be on constant when switch is on. i just seen the one question i didnt answer this car is actually my stepsons he just got out of the military he had lost the key and had another made around 3 weeks ago by a locksmith. we tried the original key when this problem happened (didnt start with it) when he got home. his wife had the original key here at home. but no sucess with any keys

The red light on top of the dash is the security light and it should go out when you have the ignition on if the system is working and the right key is read. If the light doesn't go out, with the ignition on, there is a problem in the system. Usually, NATs will keep the engine from not starting by disabling fuel, not spark. Have you had the engine controlled scanned for trouble codes? If so, what are the code numbers? You can do that with an OBD2 code reader. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I do not have a code scanner. I cannot rent one either. I wished I did. could it be the key?

Sure, it could be the key, but NATS shouldn't disable spark. You could have two problems, but without finding out if there are trouble codes stored in the engine computer and BCM as a diagnostic starting point, can't tell you what to check to figure out your problem. If another key was made, was it programmed? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

yes it was programmed. I heard the original key that was found would not work now because of the programming it to the one that was made. I need to buy a scanner eventually for one of this reason but my funds arent there for that now

It may end up costing you more to buy the scan tool and other equipment to diagnose and repair your problem than it would be to have a repair shop with all the tools and expirienced technicians to diagnose it. If it ended up being a module problem, that would require onboard programming and you would definitely need to take it to the shop or dealer with that capability.
