Hi I'm new to this forum. I have a 1975 International pickup truck that I got through a trade for work deal.
I drove her (Phyllis is her name) to Maine from Washington, and back. She did great, but on the way back a couple hours from home, I was doing around 75 on the freeway, like I had the whole drive, and it seemed like something "blew?" It was really distinctive when it happened and it was pissing oil onto the front right passenger side hub and brakes area. A little up and back, but mostly all over my right wheel hub. Oil.
It wasn't so fast it was scary but enough that it took around 10 quarts to drive another hour and a half. And with a loss of power that gradually grew, partly from the intake sucking in the oil I know. Could see it puddled in the carburetor. Anyways it's sat in storage for the past few months after replacing the valve cover gaskets, thought it was maybe that for the leak but too high for the oil seemingly coming from the bottom of the engine..
It ran like garbage when I drove it to storage had very little power (to even get up a hill) and I had to stay on the gas at a stop to keep her running. A few days ago I bought a battery and went and started her up and she fired right up and idled, and even drove around the parking lot of the storage place fine... with a bit of hesitation from an untuned and probably dirty carburetor after removing it and putting it back on 7 months ago.. however I didn't get a chance to try and pop a burnout as I didn't feel comfortable taking her on a joyride so I'm not sure if the power has resumed.
And regardless the oil leak didn't fix itself right? I'm just curious where I should check and replace.. I have a whole gasket and o ring set besides the oil pan gasket that is apparently supposed to be silicone? That's what I read somewhere but I also been told it's supposed to be cork. It is silicone as of since I got it. And I was told it was maintained in oil changes and air filters and coolant and such when I got it. I have done coolant flush and a couple oil changes.
Thank you for reading and if you have any insight or just want to say hey cool truck I appreciate all of that.

It sounds like you lost at least one cylinder. You really need a professional to inspect this and find out what happened and what is leaking. You won't get that answer on the Internet.
