Hi , everyone. We have an older chevy van 1985 G30. The van has a 350 chevy engine, auto trans. Weird thing happened. I do work on most of my cars , but I am somewhat stumped. My wife called and said the van would not start. Well, It does have fuel . I pulled the plug on one cylinder and turn the motor over , as I got fire. I pulled the line off the mechanical fuel pump, and turned the motor over. Fuel pumped out. I pulled the filter out of the carb itself. It appeared somewhat dirty, so replaced it. I put everything back together, and the it still won't start. When I move the throttle pump on the carb itself, it sounds like fiel is getting into the carb. After all was done and said: I pulled a plug again and looked to see if it was wet. Well, it was not soaken ( as I thought it would be), but it was not dry either. I sprayed a some ether in and she still would not fire. Well, I have never encountered this problem on my chevelle. Any and all help would be appreciated.

ck back pressure maybe cat. is plugged. or intake manifold could be leaking coolant into head causing contaminated fuel/ or water in gas
