my car turns over very healthy but will not start. i have changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. but she will not start.

does it have spark? does it have fuel ? if your chasing no spark,did you change the ignition module?i does this have tbi or carburetor? can't remember

it starts if i take the coil wire off and hold it 1/4" away but as soon has i bring it closer than 1/4" it dies. im lost

and it is tbi and it does have gas. and no i have not changed the ignition mod.

using a grounding probe ,check,are the spark plug wires/coil wire arcing at the cap? did you try a different coil wire?

when i put a new coil in it it will start but next time same problem

duh,sorry ,just reread your post,see wires were replaced.....you know i've had this before and i'm drawing a blank...i'm assuming all parts replaced were new......reminds me of the german army during world war 2. the commandant came in to the barracks and told the troops that they had to "change underwear today". then told them that hans had to change with franz, wilhelm had to change with helmut,etc...lol....sorry...ok,back to the problem....i know that spark will take the easiest path.....have seen spark ground out thru the bottom of the rotor to the distr.shaft...but since all is new,only thing i can think of is the module...

i tryed new ignition mod and nothing. but what about timing, could it be off?
