Car Information: 1987 Ford Taurus

It started off stalling at the exact same places every day, slight inclines when coming off the highway. No lights flashed and we had plenty of gas and oil. Eventually it started to steam from under the engine and oil pan. We would let it sit for a while then it would start, albeit shutteringly after it failed to roll over a few times. We checked the coolant receptacle and it had plenty of fluid, but the fluid was boiling. It soon began to die when idling at stop lights.

Our grandfather worked on various military vehicles in WWII and later worked on planes for American Airlines and he has a decent knowledge of engineering. He replaced the radiator hoses and thermostat, that did nothing we found out soon enough. Then we got a new battery and alternator, once again to no avail. He checked the fan and said it was running fine. Soon the battery would die and it seemed as though the alternator didn't work so we had it tested and it worked fine. The over heating continued. He later discovered that there was water coming out through the tailpipe and thus the excessive smoking that had begun a few days before.

We've had the following replaced but it still has stalling and overheating issues:

Water Pump
Thermostat
Radiator hoses and clamps
New Battery
Alternator
Head gaskets

So, steaming from below the oil pan and the engine, dying while driving, dying while idling, dying on an incline, battery dying, odd whining noise from near the steering wheel when breaking or accelerating.

At no point has the engine light come on or has the heat gauge gone above half. The oil light would suddenly flash on before it died driving on the highway but there would always be plenty of oil.

Sorry if this is vague I don't know anything about cars.

What do you think could be causing this?
