1996 GMC Jimmy fuel injection

1996 GMC Jimmy 2WD with 4.3 Vortec eng very hard to start after sitting overnight unless primed. After first start of the day it starts fine and runs fine. Could it be that the fuel pump is losing its prime? Fuel pump relay was replaced.

sounds like a pressure leak. Were your fuel lines disconnected at some point.

I"d be lQQking more towards the fuel injector itself........they had technical service bulletins on this as well as a recall from what i remember...

No lines have been disconnected since I have owned it. That's been a year and a half.

?? Thinking by keyboard on this. I'd try leaving a jump start on this from a running vehicle and bet it starts right up. Reason - I suspect cranking voltage drops too low to power the fuel pump to proper pressure. If that does work it could still be tricky to isolate just what is the exact problem?? T

Just to add, have battery tested at autozone and while you are there rent a fuel pressure tester to perform leak down test. two birds with one stone.right guys

Thanks to all who have offered suggestions. I should have mentioned that once it starts, it will start as it should unless it has been sitting for a long time, such as overnight. The strange thing is that for the last few days it has been starting as it should, even after sitting overnight.

Note that available power from a battery is VERY temperature related. Ever notice the acronym CCA? = Cold, Cranking, Amps. I suspect the battery (or excessive load by starter motor) may be the problem new or not and whether tested good or not!! You need to watch the voltage drop while cranking, T
