I have a 1998 pontiac grand prix gt that im having problems with it does have 168000 miles on it but this is the only trouble i have had. when i take off it sputters and runs rough, after you get past that take off point it seems to run fine but when you stop and shut the car off and get out it smells like gas and then when you get back in it to start it again it seems to have trouble starting. Any feedback would be appreciated.

"Smells like gas" That's priority one - find out where no matter what it takes and bet you have found both issues. Anywhere fuel goes. Doesn't take much to smell it and might not drip to readily. I'd begin looking for any fuel part under pressure. While on the cool side (engine) run a finger under suspect spots if elusive. If nothing shows you may find one or more carboned up black spark plugs - just gotta check till it's found, T

I didn't see anything for either engine Z. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Sometimes a EVAP code could be set by a bad gas cap. Make sure it's on good first. Missfire on cylinder 6 would be a spark problem or fuel problem, a new set of plugs and wires is a great place to start. -------------------------------------------------------- Your only as good as your tools!
