1999 Blazer smoking after rebuild

I recently had the 4.3 vortec engine rebuilt by a machine shop, it has all new seals, gaskets, new rings, pistons, crank turned, basically the works. I installed the engine last weekend, set all the timing per the manual and the things started right up...was a proud moment..! After the initial smoking of residual oil, I then drove the blazer a few hundred miles now doing all the engine break-in recomendations. The blazer actually runs fine, no weird noises, starts right up, etc. Here is the issue....When the blazer is cold is starts with no blue smoke, as it warms up, it will start to smoke, and if it is sitting in traffic it will puff at first acceleration. If it sits and idles it will smoke and gradually get thicker. It does not smoke driving down the hwy, and will not smoke after it sits for more than an hour until it gets warmed up again. I am so baffled as to what is wrong. Talked with a few mechanics and they just want me to let them know what is wrong AFTER I find the issue. Nice guys. I have checked the PCV valve and it works fine. I know it is not a ring problem or it would smoke all the time, and very thick....I am looking for help....ideas....the answer?

I would venture to guess that your heads had some worn out valve guides which those engines are notorious for and he never replaced them. He probably just put new seals in. I appreciate your reply and advice, I guess I thought that same answer but was really hoping for something alot easier. I'm alittle PO'd that a machine shop would not replace the guides knowing they are replacing everything else. Thanks.
