1999 Volvo S80 2.9L T6 - Misfire?

Hi everyone! So I have an interesting Volvo here. A customer brought in their car to the shop for a check engine light. P0300 - Random Multiple Misfires P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire. So, your probably thinking, well okay, that simply you know how to fix it. Yeah. We thought that too. So long story short, we've replaced the spark plug, coil and injector and moved the new pieces to other cylinders to make sure the new parts work. They all do. When you clear the codes and the let the car idle, it never misfires or throws a code. Not even at 4k RPM's. The second you put it in drive and drive about a block it throughs the misfire codes and limp mode. Any ideas?

Have you done a compression test, maybe even a running compression test. Yes, the compression of the cylinder was 120PSI. I just did a drive a few minutes ago with the car on a lift and took a screen shot of some data that the snap-on scanner was reading when the light came on. Like a freeze frame since the car is not giving an actual freeze frame for me to view.

I don't know how long the car was running but it was still in open loop at the time. Alrighty, give me a bit and I can get those readings for you and the car had been running for a 30-45 minutes. Been at the peak operating temperature for a while.

If that's the case, you need to find out why it's not going into closed loop. I don't need to see it. If they match, we rule that out. Have you ever done a running compression test? Remove the schrader valve from the tester. You should see about half of the regular compression and compare the results to good cylinders.
