2000 Dodge Dakota Cruise Control Problem Sign In

My 2000 Dodge Dakota has a 6 cylinder motor. The problem I'm having is when I use the cruise control the motor seems to miss. I can feel the vehicle surge about every 10 seconds. When I disengage the cruise control the problem goes away.

Anybody have any idea as to what the problem could be?

Any feedback on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe; At what speed does this occur? Manual or Auto trans? Are you seeing any fluctuations in the speedometer? Needle bouncing, ect?

Loren,

I see this problem when I'm crusing about 65 mph. After a couple of minutes the truck starts to surge and I can see the tackometer move everytime the engine misses.

joe; Assuming this is an automatic trans, it could be shifting in and out of overdrive at those speeds. Try it while driving with the O/D disabled. Mine will shift into O/D at about 50mph.
