2001 Ford wont hold idle

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It is a 4.7L V6. It has 156,008 miles. It will not hold and idle when the temperature is below 40 and now it will not even start. It turns over just fine but will not start. Could it be the fuel injector or maybe ice in the gas line?

I seriously doubt it's ice in the fuel but you can change the filter to eliminate that possibility. that's the only place it could be. You need to use a fuel pressure gauge to determine the exact fuel pressure when the problem is occurring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Ok. Is this a tool I can rent from a local Auto Parts store? How do I do this exactly?

Yes, you should be able to rent a gauge. There should be a service port on the fuel rail to hook it up to with the proper Ford adapter.

Ok. I will try that first. Is there any other possible things I should look at?

While your renting the gauge have the parts store pull the codes for you to see if there is any stored DTCs
