Hi Everyone I have a 2001 Toyota Celica GT with 230k miles. 1.8L 1ZZ-FE Engine. The Engine has a Misfire I cant remember the code number but " misfire in all cylinders " . engine skips bad but seems to smooth out at higher RPM'S. it's had a misfire for along time but got worse. The car has been into 2 shops for this issue.. the story replaced spark plugs -6 month ago. replaced Mass airflow censer. removed catalytic converter-strait piped for testing replaced both oxygen sensor's purchased 1 coil pack- tested on all cylinders replaced fuel pump at this point took the car to first shop. tested cylinder compression, tested ok tested fuel pressure-ok. mechanic thought it was injectors but wanted me to get a second opinion. took car to second shop. tested injectors found one bad, replaced injector- no change. said i needed 2 more. shop called me back said mechanic pulled fuel rail & tested said they were ok. they think it's the crankshaft sensor, ECM, or grounding issue. said could not look at car for a week because they had other cars to work on. Took car home ( could not get car over 55 unless put pedal to floor ) replaced crankshaft sensor and ECM I don't know what to do next.. any suggestions? Thank you

The compression was good? With that many miles I have my doubts about that. What were the readings? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

They never told me what the readings were. They just said compression was OK. I'm assuming it wasn't perfect but within specifications for a car with that many miles.

I wouldn't assume that. All your issues are strongly leaning toward a compression issue.

Not sure which cylinders, I believe it's random in all cylinders . One piece of information I forgot to post, though the injectors tested OK off the car when installed. They weren't always getting a signal to fire. He said something about ground

How is he determining the injector control signals? With a NOID light or lab scope? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Unfortunately I don't know that either. I do have a good multi meter, and a oscilloscope. I just need to locate a tutorial on how to check them. Also I recall if the car was idling rough I would shoot some carburetor cleaner into the air take and it would smooth out...

noticed the car today don't want to idle after it warms up. spraying carburetor around the air intake helps I made a youtube video of this. is posting a link to that video against the rules here?

YOUR own video thru YouTube is fine. IDK how to help it you need to show something that's popular and needed if you think that will help. By rights there should be no change in how engine runs spraying around with a flammable strongly suggests it's getting in where it shouldn't. Unmetered air can't deliver correct amount of fuel, T

Your test indicates a fuel mixture that is too lean for whatever reason. Now you have to find out why. I would start out looking for vacuum leaks. A smoke machine is the most reliable way to do that.

I did have to remove the air intake manifold, and move it back a little so I could get to a electrical connector for the crankshaft sensor. Tomorrow I will replace that gasket, And check for vacuum leaks. I don't have a smoke machine are there any alternatives to having one of those? Carburetor cleaner has always helped the engine run smoother or idle better. As far as the video, I don't think I need to post the link since it's probably self-explanatory. Thanks

Carb cleaner misses too much. Smoke will find stuff nothing else can.

I found the vacuum leak, but still have the misfire. I picked up noid tester today. And this seems odd to me but cylinder 3 when I disconnect the injector there is no discernible change in the way the motor runs . However unplugging the coil on the same cylinder will cause the engine to stall .
