So recently picked up a Focus with the 2 liter 4 cyl engine manual trans. It won’t go above 40mph, and when press the gas further than half way it starts to drop rpm and stall. Guy before me said he lowered the engine to get to the tensioner pully our, thinking maybe he pinched a vacuum line? When idling it will be good then randomly drop then level back out. Any ideas?

Is this a smooth power loss/gain or is it acting real jerky with maybe some backfiring? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Check your exhaust backpressure for a clogged Converter. It should have no more than 1PSI ahead of the converter.

Thanks for the idea, it was a little broke up inside so I empty the catalytic converter out and it helped but still losses all power when driving.

Test your fuel pressure with an accurate gauge. Rig it up so you can watch it as the problem is occuring. Also check the computer for any stored codes.
