2002 Taurus Wagon valves won't hold pressure Sign In

I have a 2002 Taurus wagon with almost 180,000 miles on it. In February I got a new timing chain on (my mechanic said it would fix the problem of a rough-funning engine). Months later and he finally diagnosed completely and found that the 3rd and 4th pistons valves aren't holding any pressure. My neighbor says I can pull the valves and just replace them with something from a junkyard or parts place. My mechanic thinks I should replace my engine. Any input would be welcome!

amy; With that many miles, I'd lean towards engine replacement, but that's just me.

I agree with Loren. It has too many miles to be messing with that engine. You definitely can't just slap a couple used valves in it. That won't work.
