I have a 2002 Chevy Venture 3.4 that starting overheating about 2 months ago and it was diagnosed as the thermostat. So we put a new one in and now just last week the van overheated again but worse than before. We took it to get it diagnosed again and they said it was the oxygen censor, but then the starter broke cause a tooth was missing out of the flywheel, so we had to replace the starter to get the van home. We dont know what is going on with it. Do you have any ideas?? Also we just bought a 2001 Chevy Venture and it starting overheating on us too. ?????

You're getting a lot of bad advice and you probably need a change in mechanics. The thermostat was not the problem and the 0/2 sensor certainly is not it. You likely have a coolant leak somewhere and you will have to pressure test the system to find it. this engine has a know problem with intake gasket leaks.

An O2 sensor for a overheating problem ?..geezzzzz thats a new one....pretty likely its a lower intake gasket leaking coolant...but......those 3.4's have a history of blowing rear headgaskets if they were run hot..and thats no quick fix..but they were also somewhat dificult to fill with coolant once the stat was replaced and given your techs wisdom in advice he simply may not have it full of coolant..there are 2 air bleeds on there to help assist you in filling the engine with coolant, simply putting coolant in the resivour will not fill the engine....good luck
